In this anisotropicplus video we describe what dissolved solids are and what kind of dissolved solids a TDS meter, which is essentially a conductivity meter, can be used on. We test it on several contaminants including salt (NaCl), sugar (sucrose), isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and we even test it on South Carolina red dirt. After showing its advantages and limitations we use it to compare the quality of our reverse osmosis system product water to the original tap water and the wasted discharge water.
