In this anisotropicplus video we explain what endothermic and exothermic mean and how sodium chloride, ordinary table salt, is endothermic when dissolved in water and calcium chloride, a food additive, is exothermic when dissolved in water. We go further and demonstrate how they both compare for melting ice.
